I'm Out

I am officially out of the challenge.

I am in a funk. I am not sure what is going on, but I have lost my motivation and I desperately need to find it again. I have started my BCPs again and think that has something to do with my energy and funk.

Anyway, I am still here and searching for some new motivation. But I am out of the challenge.

Any ideas for new motivation?

a pause in working out

This week has been pure HELL. Little did I know going to the dentist would produce a huge infection. I'm on two antibiotics and would cry...but do not have the energy to generate any tears at this point. So so tired. But, wake up during the night in pain. <--- this was yesterday!

I woke up feeling 10% better. Perhaps I'm on my way to feeling human again. Ok..I can hardly keep my eyes open. Its not even 1pm and I have tons to catch up on, but not sure if I'll even make it out of the house. C'mon body!!! HEAL HEAL HEAL yourself!!!!

oh oh ouchie

So, I had a root canal yesterday. Little did I know that I would be in this much pain, that the meds would make me all loopy and itchy and that I can not eat on that side of my mouth for another 10 days. I'm in HELL. I'm so hungry throughout the day, but anything I try hurts hurts hurts. It feels like my jaw bone has been sawed on. So, in 10 days, I go BACK to finish up. The procedure takes so long, they do it in 2 appointments. Anyhow, needless to say..I have not exercised, which means I'm out on the challenge :( I'm so ready to be of sound mind (not take any darn pain meds). Good thing I'm on vacation and don't have to go into work. Anyhow, as soon as this is all done, I'm back on that treadmill. But, I'm very thankful that my tooth is being fixed. Tomorrow, I'm going to the store to get soft stuff to eat. The dentist literally told me NOT to chew on that side of my mouth. Its very hard not to, so I'm just going to try to stick with soft foods that involve little chewing.

Change of plans

We were suppose to spend most of the day swimming today but the weather was odd. And since it had been raining for a couple of days, the water was going to be too cold for Keira. So change of plans. We went bowling. Fun!!

I am in the process of putting up a new playset/swingset fort thing in our backyard. But I have to stain it first. Something I have never done. I made a huge mess, stained more then just the wood and now have a very tired arm. And I am not even 1/4 of the way done.

challenge day 1

I did not get on the scales this morning. After a weekend of cake and cupcakes..I didn't want to see the damage :) I'm joining some great ladies on a "challenge"...I will probably (most definately) fumble my way through this first week. To be honest, my life is VERY stressful right now and I'm doing good just to get up, shower, get to work, come home and go to bed :) The children are gone for another 2 weeks. My last day of work (shhhhh!) is this Friday and a big dentist appointment is next Monday (oh my gosh...the stress about that appointment...needles freak me out!!). So, stress is my middle name right now. I think I have convinced myself to do an elimination diet. The two foods are gluten and dairy. I'll nix the gluten first. I have a feeling one of those foods is really doing bad things to me :(

exercise:
30 mins on treadmill (slow walk)

A new challenge

We started a new challenge today. This time, Teresa, Brandie and ANGIE will be doing it with me. The types of exercise and such remains the same, but the schedule is a bit different.

We have not decided on the prize yet, but I am sure we will come up with something. Really, it is more about the accountability.

Hald a beef taco
Chips with queso

Two slices of pepperoni pizza, thin crust

Output:
1.5 hours of swimming
30 minutes of Wii Activity

Sunday Sallies

Tonight was a night I had been looking forward to. Sunday Sallies at Uncle Julio's. My husband and I came to an arrangement a year ago that one Sunday a month I could count on him to be home so I could go out with girlfriends. And for a year, it has worked. And tonight it was at my favorite place, Uncle Julio's. And my lovely friend and challenge participant, Teresa, shared the Guadalajara Plate with me. YUM!!

Today was a crazy day leading up to diner. We purchased a swing set from a Mom on my Mom's board. Some things changed and we ended up going over there Sunday morning to pick it up. It was not dismantled yet, so we spent 3.5 hours in the heat taking this thing apart as much as needed to get it UP and OVER the fence and UP onto the flatbed truck we rented. I have not sweated or worked out that much in years. My poor husband was exhausted and in pain. I have NEVER seen him like that. That's how much work this thing was. Then we got it home and got a neighbor to help us get it UP and OVER our fence. I keep emphasizing the UP and OVER because you have no idea how big and heavy a few of the pieces were.

So with all of that said, I did not get a work out in. We didn't even get home and get the truck back till 3:30. Did I mention the MAJOR storm with hail that hit right when we were unloading it? The roof that flew off the back of the truck on the way home...twice. Yeah, I had nothing left in me to work out today. I barely got in the shower and thank goodness a friend was driving. So I splurged and had a Strawberry Daquari. I never drink alcohol, but I needed it after the day we had. By never, I may have had alcohol 3 times in the past 5 years.

Input:
Waffle
Hash browns
Scrambled eggs
Coffee with cream and sugar
Raisin Toast
(We took Sevi out to breakfast for her birthday. She picked Waffle House)
(No lunch, I was too hot to be hungry)
Chips and salsa
Beef Fajita
Shrimp Brochette
Strawberry Daquari
Water with lemon
(I did not have a piece of the dessert they brought us)

Really, do I need to explain any more?

The Challenge has come to an end

I was informed today that I won the challenge!!!! Woohoo!!!! Teresa was out about two weeks and then Brandie just missed three days. So while I am excited that I won (I get a new Wii game which is appropriate for me), I am sad it is over. It is a huge motivator for me. Hopefully we can work out a new one.

So, with this good news, it motivated me (along with Brandie nagging me) to take an after photo to compare. So, here is a before and after that shows a 22.8 pound loss.

Photobucket

Photobucket

And to celebrate, I did not work out today. WOW!!! Since April 6th, when the challenge has started, I have worked out EVERY.SINGLE.DAY. (Well, other then the vacation). Yay me! So I figured one day off was ok. But I will be back at it tomorrow. Besides, Juls was still sick today and I got lots of exercise getting up and down with her and running to the bathroom.

So, here's to the next 20 pounds!!!

Plan to get back into the groove on Monday!!

I pretty much received some life changing news on July 2nd. I've been pretty down and out since then. I honestly don't know how long it will take for me to get over and past it. So, it has been a hell-ish week and a half for me. I could barely eat, much less exercise! Anyhow, I'm pushing myself back...and WILL get through/over/past this. My goal is to start again next Monday with getting back on the treadmill *fingers crossed*

To be honest, there hasn't been much to post about since last Thursday. I feel like I've had some sort of tummy bug or tummy issues since then. So, it has actually been a struggle to get foods in. NOTHING sounds good. I can't even seem to force myself to eat most things. Liquids sound better than solids. I am on antibiotics, so perhaps that has something to do with it. At any rate...I'm trying to find liquids or soft foods that sound good and have calories until I feel better :(

Happy 4th Of July

This was just a bad day. I swear our 4th is cursed. 2 years ago my 6 week old ended up in the hospital for a week with a perforated intestine...lots of long names. Last year I backed into my husband's car. This year my youngest got sick and puked all over me. And just to add to the fun, we had two waters spilled (one totally in my lap), one spilled iced tea and one dropped ice cream sundae.

We did go to a parade and see fireworks. The parade was great, but the girls were so done by the time the fireworks came. Keira stayed home with Daddy since she was sick.

Mother of 5

Today I was babysitting my BFF's two daughters. So I had 5 daughters today. LOL Luckily Steve was home. But he felt all alone being the only boy. ;) He wouldn't admit it out loud, but he enjoyed it. I really thought 5 kids would be hard, but it wasn't too bad. The baby (6 months old) was actually the "hardest". While she was not difficult, she just reminded me how much attention an infant needs. And the other girls were all over her. So fascinated.

Input:
1 mini blueberry muffin
1 slice of cheese pizza
Salad
Breadsticks with Alfredo Sauce
Shrimp Caprese
Peach Iced Tea

Output:
32 minutes of Wii Activity
Lots of going up and down the stairs
Assembly of a new pool

thurs was just.....

a bad bad day :( that is all.

A little sore

So my arms are a little sore from the Wii Activity. That's good because with Wii Fit, my arms don't get much workout. But after today's exercise, I know I am going to be much more sore. Really digging this "game". It has it's flaws, like having to take the nunchuck in and out of the leg thing (which falls down during the running and leg stuff sometimes). But the exercises are awesome. Seems to know just how long I can push it before crashing. My hear rate is up the whole time. My body hurts, which is a good thing. I am doing the 30 day challenge or something and I am suppose to rest tomorrow, but with our challenge and my own need to work out everyday, we'll see what I can come up with tomorrow.

Input:
Boneless Chicken Wings
Small Green Salad
Fries
Water with Lemon
Water with Lemonade

Output:
Swimming for 90 minutes (45 for the challenge)
30 minutes of Wii Activity

Happy July

Today is July 1st. I had an appt. for my broken finger. Good news is the fracture has healed. Bad news is I have tendonitis from the tendon tear. So I am in the splint for 3 more weeks. I have a squeezy ball I have to use twice a day and I can swim without my fingers taped. So some good news with the bad.

I also bought the new Wii Activity today. So far I am impressed. It is very different then the Wii Fit. It doesn't weigh you which is a little hard for me but might be good. And the exercises are great. My heart rate is up the entire time. Although, I am so NOT a fan of running. We'll see how long I keep that one in the rotation. Let you know more as I use it more.

Input:
1/4 of a Chik-fil-a Nugget Salad
Iced Tea
1/4 of a Chipotle Barbacoa Burrito
Guacamole with Chips
Iced Tea

Output:

Every other Monday, I will add a new "goal" and give it 2 weeks to become a habit. So, right now, my goals are no diet coke and still no coffee. Next goal I want to obtain is NO baked chips. I eat them to much. Every now and again is great....but I probably buy a bag of baked chips a week and eat them all by myself (NOT GOOD!). So, if I can keep to eating chips at restaurants only...I will be good to go!

Boring Monday ~ Jamie

Today we stayed home all day. We are working on Potty training my youngest. So we could not go anywhere. Then it rained for about an hour which was a nice change. The yards needed it. it has been so hot!. So then it was too muddy for the girls to go out in the back. They have been bugging me all day to do something "fun". Why do children feel the need to be entertained everyday?

Arizona tea with water
Mac and Cheese
Left over boneless beef ribs
Mexican Chicken Casserole

Output:
36 minutes of Wii Fit Yoga and Strength Training

Monday Goals: angie

Goal this week: NO DIET COKE! (btw, I'm on Day 22 of NO COFFEE). Getting the sugar (all sugars besides natural sugars in foods like fruit, etc) out of my diet will be a slow process. I'm just going to work on one thing at a time. I feel like the coffee thing is >< that close to be totally handled :) Now to get rid of my occational diet coke thing. I tend to get one while I'm out and never finish them. Why? Because they are GROSS lol, but its the only drink besides water I feel like I can handle right now (calorie wise). I was super tired this morning, so skipped working out. I know I need to give myself a break at least once a week, so today was it!

Boneless Beef Ribs
Twice baked Potatoes
Corn on the Cob
Arizona Iced Tea with water

Output:

Sometimes I come back and record my steps, sometimes I don't. Today we headed out to go swimming, so I did not record my steps yet. Later tonight I turned it back on like I always do but this time I hit the board power button and the remote button at the same exact time. Somehow it reset the game and I lost my 30 minutes. I am so frustrated. I saw the number of steps earlier, so I knew that, but I am sad I lost those minutes for my total records.)
Swimming for 90 minutes (45 minutes toward challenge)

Super Saturday

Ok, nothing "Super" about it, but it sounded good. I have got the cleaning bug. I have been cleaning ALL day. I also have a little tummy bug, so Steve says I must REALLY be sick with all the cleaning I have been doing. He doesn't like me sick sick, but he could handle all this cleaning more. LOL

Saturday!! angie

After really skimping two days in a row on exercise, I got up this morning and did 30 mins on the treadmill (running some of the time). I have to take it easy on the running or my knee will be paying for it BIG time. I had an injury as a child that will always keep me from full out running instead of walking :( which sucks...because I know if I can build myself up to running, the weight would melt off. Oh well....baby steps! The scales showed a tiny tiny drop this morning, so I was happy and motivated. Nearing the end of my cycle, so that makes me happpppy too!

50 mins of EXERCISE
30 mins on treadmill (morning: a FIRST for going that long!)

That is 18.5 pounds down since I started all of this exercise stuff. Yay me!!! I am so close to two goals. 20 pounds lost and getting into the 180's. I am floored and so happy. Really, I have already lost 20 pounds as I was 210 when I decided to get serious. But my first recorded weight was 208.5. Either way, I am so excited to be doing this! I feel better about myself everyday. I have never had to work so hard at something, and I most certainly have never stuck to something that was this hard. Yay me. ;)

Monday again! angie

Well, the scales show a "decent" number this morning. I actually bought a calendar that I write my weight on everyday (for now). From 2 weeks ago (when I started getting on the treadmill everyday), I've lost just shy of 4 lbs. Not shabby, but I had gained some prior to getting back on the wagon. I lacked about 6 oz (LOL...so funny to be talking "ounces") to hit 4 full pounds lost. I have so many to go, so in the grand scheme, its small. But, any victory in long term weight loss is a great victory. I did not exercise this morning. Very tired and felt I needed a day off. Cycle is soon, which means cramps and tired tired tired!

20 mins of EXERCISE
20 mins on treadmill (evening)

FOOD
oatmeal w/brown sugar *breakfast*
1 large orange, 1 luna bar, 1 tootsie roll *snack*

The Big Show

Tonight was Julia's big performance she has been working all week on. She did so well. I am so proud of her. I really expected her to clam up but she did great.

Waffle Bowl Sundae (Vanilla Ice Cream with hard shell chocolate in a waffle bowl)

Output:
90 minutes of swimming (45 for challenge)
20 minutes of Strength exercises

Sunday Madness: angie

A really great friend (I love her to pieces and value her opinion a LOT) told me the other day that at my skinniest (about 2 years ago), I looked "to skinny". That my collarbones stuck out and my arms were tiny. I don't recall being to skinny. I definiately want to be at a good weight (toned!!). So, I guess you could say, I'm struggling with my *goals* right now. Even at my skinniest, I still thought I needed to tone. I dunno, its hard. I'm just going to take it one day at a time :) I do know that my body will take fat from places (collarbone area) and I'll STILL have fat on my tummy/hips/sides/legs. Its FRUSTRATING that you can not control *where* your body takes weight off. My cycle will start in the next day or so (hence the recent tootsie roll eating, ugh!). I must keep working out through though :)

35 mins of EXERCISE
15 mins on treadmill (morning)
20 mins on treadmill (evening)

FOOD
kashi cereal/soymilk *breakfast*
luna bar/1 tootsie roll *snack*

Day 13 of NO COFFEE! This is huge for me. Yay! I don't crave it daily anymore. But, I still don't trust that if I had a little cup, that I would not fall off the wagon and go back to drinking it daily. So, I must stay away from it continuously for a few more weeks. I was really concerned that my weight would flare up this morning because I went out to eat last night. It didn't...yahoo!!

45 mins of EXERCISE

25 mins on the treadmill (evening)

FOOD
Kashi cereal w/soymilk *breakfast*

Still Feverish

And oh so freakin HOT! I can not get cool enough. I am an icky sweaty mess. I don't want to move. Steve came home and let me go hang out in the pool by myself so I could cool off (and so I could get some exercise in). I am not eating very well as I am just not feeling up to it. Today was weigh in day for the DAMBLC and I weighed in at 193. I was very excited to see the number but not thrilled about why I am losing it. Means I have to work harder next week to keep it off and lose more.

Input:
Sonic Strawberry Banana Smoothie (Had to get some fluids in me)
Watermelon
Water with Gatorade

Output:
75 minutes of swimming sans kids. I did laps and some water "aerobics".

I went to ON THE BORDER, so:
chips and salsa *snack* lol
3 tortillas filled with rice/beans/cheese/salsa *dinner*

THOUGHTS
Still doing good. Still TIRED as heck. I finished some antibiotics last night, so perhaps my energy and being tired will slack off. Or maybe my body is just taking awhile to get used to exercising more often. It is so funny...because I literally get on the treadmill in the morning about 5 mins after I wake up while yawning and still rubbing my eyes lol. I need to research some more *energy* foods. THANK GOD ITS FRIDAY!!! *BTW* I don't know if anyone reads my posts, but I only post the drinks I drink if it is not water. I drink water throughout the day. As soon as I get to work, I pour myself a cup of water and refill it throughout the day :)

Nasty Fever

Today I was feeling off. Was suppose to meet friends for lunch but canceled at the last minute because I was SO hot and the girls were fussy, etc. Thank goodness I did. Two of us have fevers. Ugh. A fever during the summer is crazy. You don't know hot till you have experienced this. So i only got 30 minutes in today, which is ok for the challenge. I just focused on doing some Yoga. Nice and slow and stretchy my achy body.

Jamie's Wednesday

Not much to report here. Went to the doc to get a new splint for my finger. The other one was so uncomfortable and wasn't helping. My doc was very surprised that the original doc I saw gave me that flat metal splint. So now I have a new one. Hopefully it works.

1 Delmonte fruit cup (140 cal) *snack*
2 slices of cheese (160 cal) *snack*
luna bar (170 cal)/small bowl of popcorn *snack*

THOUGHTS
I felt so tired yesterday evening. I decided to play with my kids all evening instead of working out (playing with them outside was my workout lol). My son always gets me to play "catch" with him after I get home from work. It was nice sitting out on the back porch watching them blow bubbles, squirt water guns and be silly. This morning was a WEAK workout. I'll have to step it up tonight!! *blargh*...I only did 15 mins tonight. So freaking tired. I came home and took a little nap. That is so NOT like me. I feel like I'm on the verge of getting sick, but I don't have the time or energy for that lol

Root Beer

Output:
1 hour of swimming (30 minutes towards the challenge)
30 minutes of Wii Fit

THOUGHTS
Day 9 of NO COFFEE. It was kind of hard this morning with the coffee. I keep yawning and wanted a "pick me up" :( ARGH!!!! I'm creeping up on two weeks without it. Whats up with that? I don't know what the deal is, but I'm hungry throughout the day and eat fine, etc...then at night....my tummy all feels ugh and I feel like I'll yarf if I eat anything more than just a "little" something. Perhaps I need to stuff in more throughout the day prior to 6pm. Because after that...ugh!

THOUGHTS
Day 7 of NO COFFREE!! Can you believe it? I've posted/updated for a week solid! w00t!! I mean business this time. I woke up feeling horrible. A friend of mine that I met with last week found out she has bronchitis. So, I'm a bit scared of that. Took some emergenC and some Vitamin C this morning. Even thought I felt like I had been run over by a truck, I made myself get on the treadmill this morning. TONIGHT will be the night that I add EXTRA exercise for certain body parts. I want rotate "arms" "legs" "abs", etc. That is what I did last time and it worked great for me. BTW, our wii fit is still being used. Not by me at this point, but my teenage daughter. She uses it everyday, so I'm so glad for that! Hopefully, she will keep it up. I still want to do the step every so often because I seemed to like that part of it lol and the hulahoopin' *update* I didn't feel great today...so I didn't eat as much as I should have :(

Getting Back Into The Swing Of Things

It has only taken me 4 days to start getting back into the swing of things. Still unpacking and such, but this dang hand doesn't let me do too much. It just had to be my right hand, didn't it. I picked up some water proof tape today. I swam yesterday without the splint on and that was not smart. So today I got the tape so I can at least tape my fingers while I swim. That should help.

Plus Steve is home today to help with things. Changing a diaper sucks right now. But he has a cold and is very grumpy. :(

Input:
3 donut holes
Snuffer's Cheese Fries
Taco Salad
Water with Lemon
Flavor Ice
Chicken Tamale
Chips and Salsa
Water with lemon

Day 6 of NO COFFEE! I will continue to update about the coffee because it is a BIGGIE for me! I have been depending on the caffeine and I need to get rid of the "habit". I'm thinking 14 days of updates heehee. I did 5 more mins than usual on the treadmill this morning. I usually do just 15 because I'm rushed in the mornings. Today = 20 mins YAY! I'm also listening to a podcast, so that makes the time more interesting as well.

BLC Season 10

My Moms group is starting the Biggest Loser Competition today. Season 10 and I have joined up again. Hoping to get a little more motivation out of it this season then last. I have gained 1.5 pounds since my last weigh in which is to be expected from a vacation. I am actually happy that it wasn't more. LOL

Input:

1 cup of Motts applesauce, 1 slice of cheese (80 cal) *snack*
peanutbutter/jelly sandwich (my tummy is really upset tonight, ugh!)

THOUGHTS
Day 5 of NO COFFEE. I'm proud of myself. For as tired as I felt this morning, I resisted the temptation to stop and get a jolt of caffeine. I was so tired yesterday that I did not do my night time walking on the treadmill and I'm dissapointed to say that I did not do my morning on the treadmill today. But, I have tonight and I will do at least 30-45 mins for sure! *update* whew!! So glad I got on the treadmill. I could only handle 20 mins. I got off work early today and came home and took a nap, which is unusual for me. So, I know something is kicking me in the butt (energy-wise)...so I'm very thankful that I could manage to get on the treadmill at least once and for more than 10 mins LOL

Thursday, June 11, 2009

Medium diet coke (argh!)..I was tired of drinking water
2 budlights (happy hour with a friend) and some chips and salsa
2 rice cakes with peanut butter *my sad excuse for dinner*

THOUGHTS
Day 4 of NO COFFEE!! Our electricity went out last night....so I was thinking I wouldn't be able to get on the treadmill. It came back on and even though I was exhausted from the rain ordeal, I got on for 30 mins! This morning was HARD to get on the treadmill...I was so tired and exhausted. My butt muscles still hurt and now my leg muscles hurt too. I know this is a "good" thing, because it means I worked those areas out.

Wednesday, June 10, 2009

Back!!!

Do I have to be back? Our trip was perfect! The beach was gorgeous. I miss it so much. It was really hard and sad to leave. But I am home and back to reality.

Turns out I have a broken finger. I did it two months ago but thought I just twisted it or pulled a muscle or something. it kept hurting. Then this weekend I went to pick up the diaper back and it hurt SO bad, I almost threw up. So I promised DH I would have it looked at when I got home. Doc took me in this afternoon and felt around, asked questions and then said he really thought it needed to be x-rayed. I disagreed. No way I broke it.

Yep, plain as day, there was a nice fracture. Ugh. So now i am in a splint for 3 weeks and will have to get it re-xrayed. I also have a torn ligament. This splint is a pain. So exercising is going to be off for a little while. Holding a Wii remote for things like boxing just isn't going to work. I am currently looking for a plastic splint to swim in.

1 medium diet coke from Sonic
watermelon *snack*
bran cereal (different kind) w/soymilk *dinner*

THOUGHTS
Day 3 of NO COFFEE. To be honest, so far...I am not craving or missing the coffee. The thought of drinking something hot after working out does not sound pleasing at all. MY BUTT MUSCLES HURT SO BAD!!!! I woke up at 4am in the morning hurting (my bum!). I guess the walking is working my rear out in a good (but hurtful) way! OUCH!!

Tuesday, June 9, 2009

Day 2 of NO COFFEE!! or diet coke. My goal this week is to stay away from coffee, get on the treadmill at least 30 mins a day and clean up my eating. My goal next week will be to add more time to the treadmill each day and add in extra exercises for my legs, arms, tummy (toning!), continue to not drink caffeine and refine my eating. 6/8/09 angie

35 mins of EXERCISE

veggie mix (corn/peas/cheese) + some almonds for protein

THOUGHTS
Day 1 of NO COFFEE. I have GOT to get out of the habit of drinking and relying on coffee in the mornings. I have hope, because it is so darn HOT outside now that it isn't something I want to "warm me up". I'm going to try and drink green tea if I feel like I need something. I brought a lot of fruit to work today, so that will be my "snacks".

Sunday, June 7, 2009

Starting Sunday!

45 mins of exercise:
15 mins on treadmill (early morning)
30 mins on treadmill (night)

1 small coffee, 1 bowl bran cereal
foot long veggie delite from subway
1 piece of sponge cake
black beans + cheese + baked chips
1 granola bar
water!

The day after my treadmill was delivered, I hurt my back. Go figure! I've been in extreme pain since. A lot of time on a heating pad and taking a pillow with me to work. FINALLY, this morning...it felt good enough to get on the treadmill. I should still see a chiro, but no $$ for that just yet. So, to be honest..it was my first workout on my new machine. Only 15 mins, but much to do this morning (church!), so I will get on again this evening. That is my plan....morning and evening on the treadmill. Break it up into two workouts and then add additional stuff in the evening (arms, legs, DVDs, etc). I FEEL GOOD :) and then my next hurdle is my FOOD! which has been terrible terrible lately :(

Off Tomorrow

My baby girl graduated from Kindergarten today. Boohoo! I can't believe it. I now have a 1st grader.

So we can keep the challenge going. I will be getting a lot of "exercise" in while I am gone. Long walks on the beach, lifting luggage and children, etc. So hopefully I can easily get back into it when I get home.

Eat Chocolate While Dieting

Here are some ways to sneak in some chocolate while still eating healthy.

8 slimming secrets to eat more chocolate
When Devin Alexander lost 55 pounds, she was fixated on the thought that she'd never eat chocolate again if she wanted to be healthy. Instead of accepting this reality, she made it her business to work around it. Devin says that she currently eats chocolate every single day without the weight struggle. And now it has actually become her business. She is the author of the New York Times bestselling "Biggest Loser Cookbook," as well as the host of "Healthy Decadence" on Fit TV. Here is a taste of her chocolate-covered wisdom...

DEVIN ALEXANDER'S 8 SLIMMING SECRETS TO EAT MORE CHOCOLATE

1. Less is more with mini chocolate chips.
These little guys are one of my secret weapons when it comes to sneaking chocolate into sweet treats. Because they're much smaller than standard chips, you need fewer to get more in each bite. I use them in my signature Chocolate Chocolate Brownie Cups (see below), and you can also try adding a few to a sandwich bag with some whole grain cereal for a delicious on-the-go snack.

2. Get creative with cocoa powder.
Cocoa powder is not just for baking. Add a spoonful to your favorite fruit smoothie in the morning (my personal favorite is raspberry) or add a touch of cocoa to your oatmeal for a decadent twist. Not only is cocoa powder a light way to get in some chocolate, but it's high in fiber, too.

3. When in doubt, use chocolate syrup.
Whenever I'm looking for a quick chocolate fix, I pull out the chocolate syrup and drizzle it on everything from fresh fruit to marshmallows. I love to make breakfast "sundaes" with nonfat yogurt, bananas or berries, low-fat granola, and a drizzle of chocolate syrup on top!

4. Choose chocolate graham crackers.
Did you know that chocolate graham crackers are actually low-fat? Though the label almost never says so, 1 chocolate graham sheet has typically only about 3 g of fat. Try these with a glass of low-fat or nonfat milk for a sweet pick-me-up.

5. Get chocolate and protein into your ice blended.
I love those frothy ice-blended drinks from the local coffee shop, but they're usually full of fat and empty calories. Blend your own at home with nonfat milk, coffee powder, ice, and chocolate protein powder. It'll give you a great energy boost and satisfy your chocolate craving.

6. Enjoy hot fudge without pudge.
Lots of store-bought hot fudge toppings are actually fat-free. Even if the front label doesn't say so, read the nutrition facts. You'll find that many of them actually have zero grams of fat. I dip fresh strawberries in warmed hot fudge for a chocolate "fondue" treat anytime.

7. Don't be afraid to try something new.
I'm always looking for new ways to sneak chocolate into my diet. I recently discovered all-natural chocolate brown rice syrup. It's like a cross between chocolate syrup and hot fudge, but it's all-natural, gluten free, and even fat-free! It's made without beet or can sugars, corn syrup, or other refined sweeteners of any kind. It has a super rich, deep chocolate flavor and goes well with everything from fruit to fat-free ice cream. Look for Suzanne's Specialties Chocolate Brown Rice Nectar at Whole Foods or on their website.

8. CHOCOLATE CHOCOLATE BROWNIE CUPS
Devin Alexander's signature recipe from "The Most Decadent Diet Ever!" (Random House)
Makes 48 brownie cups; 24 servings
Save: 151 calories, 11 g fat, 2 g saturated fat. Each two-brownie serving has: 109 calories, 2 g protein, 23 g carbohydrates, 1 g fat, <1 g saturated fat, 0 mg cholesterol, trace fiber, 139 mg sodium. A traditional brownie serving has about: 260 calories, 3 g protein, 37 g carbohydrates, 12 g fat, 3 g saturated fat, 15 mg cholesterol, 1 g fiber, 165 mg sodium.

Ingredients:
Butter-flavored cooking spray
1/2 cup unsweetened applesauce
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
8 large egg whites
2 cups raw sugar
1/2 cup unbleached all-purpose flour
1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
2 teaspoons instant espresso powder
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup mini semi-sweet chocolate chips
1. Preheat the oven to 350°F. Thoroughly mist two 12-cup nonstick mini-muffin tins with spray.
2. Use a sturdy whisk or spatula to mix the applesauce, vanilla, egg whites, and sugar in a large mixing bowl until well combined. Add the flour, cocoa powder, espresso powder, baking powder, and salt. Stir until just combined and no lumps remain. Working in batches, fill each cup until just barely full. Sprinkle about one-fourth of the chips evenly over the brownies in each of the tins. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out dry (a few crumbs are okay).
3. Transfer the tins to a cooling rack and cool for 5 minutes. Use a butter knife to gently lift the brownies from the muffin tins (if they stick, carefully run the knife around the edge of each cup). Cool on the rack for another 10 minutes. Repeat with the second half of the batter and the remaining chips.
Note: These brownie cups freeze extremely well if you want to keep them on hand for your children's after-school cravings or your midnight sweet tooth. With only 54 calories and less than 1 gram of fat each, you really can't go wrong!

What a crazy night

I could not sleep last night. I woke up at 2:00 AM, laid there for 30 minutes before I decided to get up. I got up, took half a sleeping pill and then.....wait for it....worked out for 30 minutes. I was worried working out would make me even more awake, but I was hoping it would actually tire me out more. And it did. 30 minutes of step, sleeping pill kicked in and I was back in bed asleep.

New Challenge Rules

I can't remember if I have posted this yet or not, but no one lost (or won) the challenge at the end of our 6 weeks. Yay us! So we have extended it indefinately. We have also upped it from 45 minutes to 30 minutes. 30 cardio and 30 other exercise.

The two girls I am doing the challenge with are training for half marathons now and their training schedule requires them to have a day off. So we have switched up our schedule a little.

5 days just like before (30 min. of cardio and 30 min. of other exercise)
1 day of 30 min. of any type of exercise.
1 day off/rest.

I personally plan to continue working out everyday, however, I may only do 30 minutes on the day off and 30 on the 30 minute day. I plan to not take any days totally off. I need the motivation to keep going and if I start cutting back, I think I will give up completely. Make excuses.

And lastly, we have added a swimming rule to the mix since two of us are doing lots of that with our kids. We decided that true lap swimming could count towards your 30 min cardio, but all other swimming/treading water/recreational counted half minute for minute, but only towards your additional 30 minutes of exercise. But, you had to be moving! You couldn't be standing the shallow end while your kid swims around you!

It's here!!!

My NordicTrack Treadmill is here!! I'm so happppy!!! I have a date with this machine in the morning!!

My first 5K

I walked my first 5K today. Yay me!! My oldest joined me and we did it with some friends of mine. It was the Red Nose Run and was in association with the American heart Assoc. (near and dear to MY heart) and the Circus (near and dear to my daughter's heart. LOL).

I was a little worried with how my daughter would do. I knew she COULD do it, but was afraid she would get bored or wouldn't be able to do it as fast as we were going. She did amazingly well. I am so very proud of her. I could have done it faster, but I had to go a little slower for her. I might take one of the younger ones next time in a stroller and rock it. But I met my goal. I wanted to do it under and hour and we did it in 57:05.

Wheat thins

Water with a little Low Cal Gatordae

Spotty Wednesday

Right as I was finishing my workout, Keira came down stairs. I looked at her and noticed there were odd spots on her face. Took a closer look and she was covered in them. Yikes. Turns out she is allergic to penicillin. She was taking Amoxacillin for the pneumonia. It was a little scary. Here breathing was bad and she was all itchy. Ugh. So bare with me as I post my output. I do record it on my iphone as I go, but I rushed to urgent care with my Wii still going after I finished my boxing. So I think I got this right.

Getting a Treadmill

I've decided to get a treadmill. I have to wait till next Saturday when I can borrow a truck and have a friend help me put it together. I am SO EXCITED!! This is how I lost all the weight the first time. I could get on the treadmill twice a day and then did extra "strength" exercises as well. This is MAJOR for me. I was going back and forth about if I should get another gym membership and I just don't think I find the time to "go" to the gym. I like the advantage of having a treadmill is my house available to me anytime of day regardless. The only reason I got rid of the first treadmill is because it was a piece of crap and died on me. It kept overheating and finally died.

New Shoes Sunday

For Mother's Day my girls and husband got me a new pair of sneakers which were desperately needed. However, since keira was sick, we did not get to go shopping for them. Well next week I am walking in my very first 5K and Steve knew I really needed these shoes before then so I could break them in. So off we went today to RunOn in Richardson. They fitted me and made sure I was getting the right kind of shoes for what I am doing. And viola, a brand new pair of New Balance TS2.

Input:
Turkey/Avocado Sandwich on Wheat
Doritos
Iced Tea
Water
Slurpee

Output:
61 minutes of Wii Fit

Smashing Good Time Saturday

Today is Keira's 2nd birthday party to be shared with her BFF. Sadly, it is suppose to rain the whole time of the party and we have rented a bounce house. Ha!

I also had a garage sale this morning...in the rain. I gave up. Too much to do to get ready for the party. Made $43

Input:
Gatorade
Snuffers Cheese Fries
Taco Salad
Water with Lemon
Beef Taco
1 piece of cake
Gatorade
(I actually ended up not eating much today. Too busy cooking and entertaining.)

Ouput:
30 minutes of Wii Fit
(30 minutes of free step (3396 steps))
35 minutes bouncing in the bounce house

After a rocky morning and lots of rain, it all stopped and cleared up enough to still get the bounce house. After the party cleared out I went and spent a half hour in the bounce house. Dang, that is a crazy workout. My GoWear Fit is lit up today. I hit numbers I have never hit before.

GoWear Fit as of 9:11 PM
Calories = 2761 (Target is 2600)
Steps = 11917 (Target is 8000)
Mod Activity = 1:28 (Target is :45)

Weightloss and Challenge Up Date

Well, yesterday was the last day of the challenge and amazingly enough, no one lost. We all did our 45 minutes a day. So we are going to continue it but have upped it to an hour. 30 minutes of Cardio and 30 minutes of other exercise. Woohoo. Now the only issue is that I am going on vacation. So they have agreed to "go on vacation" with me. We will all count those 5 days as an exercise vacation and pick right back up when I get back.

it really isn't about winning or losing now. It is about the accountability and the exercise. I am working out every single day because of this challenge. I have lost 15 pounds!!!

Yep, my weightloss update. I hit a great milestone today! 15 pounds down. Yay me!!!

Thankful Thursday

I am thankful for my children. I am thankful for the way they are. I am thankful they are healthy.

Sevi had OT today. And while she has been diagnosed with SPD, everything is relative. Here at the house, her SPD seems like a major issue in our family. But then I go to OT with her and see all the kids that come in there. Several very autistic kids. It makes me very thankful for Sevi's SPD and for my other two healthy girls. Her SPD is nothing compared to what I see when we go there.

Input:

Output:

I also weighed in on my weigh and did my Wii Fit Age which I do every few weeks or so. I have always been above my age. D'oh. Last time I did it, I was right on my age. This time it came up as 8 years younger then my age!!! Woohoo! That says a lot about how far I am coming. Most days I do not feel like I am making any headway. But then I get little reminders like this and it motivates me to keep going.

Getting back on the wagon!!

Boy, have I fallen off :( I bought the wii fit at least two weeks ago. I've decided I just need to be a sneaky pete and do it while the kids are asleep. That means early early in the morning or late late at night. I had a profile set up, but was very frustrated with it because the feet things on the bottom of the board kept falling off, so my pounds were all over the place. Anyhow, that profile was deleted and I set another one today (with the kids in the room of course, they can NOT leave me alone during waking hours). So, that is all I got to....I plan to get on tonight AFTER they go to bed. I wanted to go to the gym after work, but someone called in sick, so I had to stay till 5 and that is a no go for me and the gym! ARGH!!

food:

Tie Dye Day

I have been out in the backyard all morning tie dying 16 shirts for the birthday party this weekend. I am exhausted, but need to push through it to do my workout. It will probably be pretty basic today. My baby tried to be my little helper but only ended up dying her feet instead. LOL I still have to rinse and wash, but the hard part is over and I am pretty impressed with myself for getting them all done with a couple days to spare.

Wii Fit Minutes Update

I forgot to post this last week, but here is a photo of all my Wii fit minutes up to date.

And just because it looks so cool. My Wii Fit calendar with all of my stamps. If I showed you April as well, you would see I have only missed 2 days in the past 5 weeks. Of course those two days were prior to the challenge which started May 6th. Speaking of challenge, we have three weeks left. We are half way there and I believe we all have worked out everyday. Not too shabby. But hopefully they will check in here and comment on there current workouts.

Very Active Day

We are removing a pond from our backyard and today was a very big day. We had a load of dirt (6 yards, whatever that means) delivered on Thursday.

Then today we wheelbarrowed it all from the front yard into the pond to fill it in. It took us 52 (approx) loads to get it all in. We also had to break down a mound of dirt on one end that housed the waterfall and whole pump set. We also had to remove the black liner with a box cutter. I became very handy with a wheelbarrow, rake, shovel and my favorite...the pick axe.

We got that phase done in 3 hours. Shew. Then broke for lunch at Snuffers and came back to do some more leveling and I wanted to plant some rose bushes in memory of my mother. She passed away 19 years ago, yesterday.

Before...

After...

I am exhausted and so so sore. My hands hurt pretty bad from all the tools I am not use to. But I am so happy to have this done. And my GoWear Fit counter was lighting UP!!!
