Jamie's Input/Output for the Jan. 10/11 Weekend
Weekends are going to be my hardest time. I work out during K's nap during the week. During the weekend, I have a million and one things to do since the hubby is home and can stay put while she naps. So trying to find time to workout proved difficult this weekend.
Plus we eat out a lot on the weekends. And there is this one place called Snuffer's. We eay there EVERY Saturday. It is something we have been doing for over 8 years. Not that big of a deal, right. Wrong. Snufer's serves the most amazing cheese fries you could ever have. One of the things Dallas is known for is Snufer's Cheese Fries. There are rumors about the number of calories in them, but even the owner doesn't know. I googled them and read more rumors, such as the fact that there is a pound of cheese on one large order. We order 2 half orders or the 5 of us and I usually only have one helping. But I can't even imagine the calories in them. But they are so good. And like I said, over 8 years of tradition here that we are not about to stop. I have been having their soup lately in an attempt to eat better then the Burgers they are also known for. Their Veggie Burger is pretty good as well and one of my usuals. Their soup lacks, so that is not going to last long.
So anyway, my input and output for the weekend.
Saturday Input:
Dannon Frusion Smoothie
Snuffer's Cheese Fries
Snuffer's Chicken Enchilda Soup with Tortilla Chips
Luby's chicken fried steak, green beans and mashed potatoes (this is not normal and was on sale)
Saturday Output:
Loads and Loads of laundry. Folding is good for the arms
Sunday Input:
Cinnamon Roll
Veggie Burger from JCs
Homemade Baked Ziti
Sunday Output:
Marquee up at the school (that thing is very heavy, LOL)
Wii tetherball and dodgeball

Input/Output for Jamie 1/9/09
So today went to heck in a hand basket. I am so afraid to see my calories.
Input:
2 Taco Bueno Hard Shell Tacos
Taco Bueno Party Burrito
Starbuck's Iced Mocha
Homemade Roast with garlic Mashed potatoes, Cooked Carrots and Onions.
Output:
Wii Tetherball and Handball
Play time at Little Gym with 3 year old DD
40 sit ups
Today was a crazy weird day. And then DD#2 and I ended up at a birthday party early (I turned down the pizza and the cupcake). But we were early with nothing to do, so we walked down to Starbuck's. I know, shame on me. That is my problem. I eat and drink when I don't have something else important to do.

I caved yesterday. I use to have Starbucks ALL the time. But I have limited myself to once a week in an attempt to save money AND lose weight. I figured I would start with once a week, wean myself, and then maybe never go. Well the weather was wet and cold yesterday. Just perect for a nice Hot Peppermint Mocha.
It tasted great. Nice and warm and smooth. But the caffeine headache that quickly ensued was not worth it. Not worth it at all. So, it seems I found a great motivation not to have Starbucks anymore. Well, at least not coffee, which is where the drinks with the most calories (and price) are anyway. I may still have some ice Tea once in awhile or the fattening Carmel Apple Spice, but we'll see. That was a big eye opener yesterday.
I haven't even looked at the calories yet. I am sure it will be a deal sealer. LOL

Input/Output for Jamie 1/5/09
Not a horrible day food wise, but I don't have any output.
Input:
Dannon Frusion Smoothie Pina Colada
2 Andes Mints (These are officially gone now. Stocking stuffer. LOL)
Campbell's Condensed Minestrone Soup
Saltine Crackers
Unsweet Tea
Baked Ruffles Cheddar Sour Cream
Some yogurt covered raisens
Veggie Bow Tie Pasta (homemade)
I have no clue how many calories were in the pasta. I need to figure it out but I am afraid. I think it is healthy, but so far everything I think is healthy is not. LOL It is just bow tie noodles, carrots, bell peppers, sugar snap peas, garlic and olive oil. So good. I ate too much for sure.
Output:
Nothing. Nothing at all. It was Julia's first day back to school and I ran a ton of errands.

So my dear friend Brandie challenged me to track my calories for a month. Before I even try cutting calories, just track them and learn about them. So I have been doing this for several days, sort of. You can check it out at my Fit Day site. I have NEVER kept track of calories. I have no clue what is unhealthy and what is healthy. I am so frustrated already and it has only been a few days.
When I eat out, I try to eat healthy. I love veggies and greens. So it is not hard for me. So I thought. I went to Corner bakery with a friend last week. ordered my Harvest Salad like I always do. A salad is a good choice, right? Wrong!! I came home and went to track the calories. Holy cow!! 780 calories.
Then today, I had some Campbell's Condensed Minestrone Soup. Ok, maybe not the healthiest, but really, how many calories can it have? I looked at the can ... 90 calories. Sweet!! So I make my lunch, sit down to eat and input the info in my Fit Day account when I see what I missed. 90 calories per serving. Ok, that's what it usually means, BUT... there is 2.5 servings in this one little can. That's 270 calories for a can of soup. Still not horrible, but not as good as I was hoping.
And if that wasn't confusing enough for me, we went to McDonald's for lunch on Sunday. Since I am not cutting calories yet, I decided to order what I normally order just to get an idea of how many MANY calories are in their food. I will admit, I did not order fries today. I opted for the Apples and grapes salad which I did not eat because my oldest daughter did. Thank goodness I did. The number of calories on those fries was CRAZY!!! But I digress, back to what I did eat. I ordered my usual Southwestern Chicken Salad with the Crispy Chicken. I knew crispy chicken was the worst of the two choices, but it was what I like and I am not trying to cut calories just yet. I come home and sit down to input my calories and to my surprise, my salad only had 140 calories and the dressing 100 calories. 240 calories for McDonald's is not bad at all.
So I am confused. When I try to eat healthy, I eat a ton of calories and when I just eat what I normally do, I eat fewer calories. I know that is not always the case, but so far it seems to be the majority here.
And then why don't all restaurants have their nutritional facts on their site. I can't count calories if I can't find them. We have eaten out a lot lately because I just had a birthday. I would love to see the calories at all of those places. Pappadeux's and Uncle Julio's. And then every Saturday we eat at Snuffer's. I know why they don't have their nutritional facts posted. But I am dying to know how many calories in those YUMMY cheese fries I eat every weekend.
Anyway, all of that to say I am frustrated with calorie counting. I haven't even begun to try and figure out the calories on what I cook at home. Where do I find out the calorie content of meats I cook? I can find a lot of the info on the packaging I use like the seasoning and such, but I haven't figured out the meats. Any and all advice is welcomed. I want to do this. I want to learn. I just need some teachers to help guide me.
